Of course.

But, then, at this point I even miss GWBush. Hey, in a month or two I might be missing Nixon.

It's amusing how Mr. Fiscal Responsibility and "sorry, we can't afford universal healthcare in this situation" becomes the idol of the left.

And that comes from somebody that likes Carter.

It's still weird to hear "the president" or "the White House" not represent liberalism.

Yeah, I've been feeling that too.

I really miss Obama on a personal level. I'll come to miss him politically within a month or so, but man, he was such a class act that I don't think we'll see matched in the White House.

Biden, on the other hand.... I will never be over his departure

I started missing him the night of the election. I've had my cries and bouts of depression, but I've managed to stay rather stoic over the past few days. I've avoided most news (avoiding all TV news, exception for quasi-news like Colbert and Bill Maher). It's very painful and difficult, but I'll get through it, as will the rest of us. We will regroup and fight back in the midterms and take back the House and governorships and state legislative races that will set the stage for the next decade. We may be down, but we will come back stronger than before.

Yes, I miss him and Biden badly. Two amazing men who represented this country with dignity and honor who had the right kind of political ideas.

I miss people's ability to tell the difference between a complete con artist and someone who can govern effectively.  President Junk Bond will remind us soon though, when all the promises he sold go into default.

Yes. Heck, I even miss Dubya at this point.

No.  I do not and will not miss President Obama, as much as I'm put off by Trump.

I do, however, miss Bush, and have from the moment he left office.  (Go ahead, ridicule me all you want.)

Yes, and I also would have missed him to an extent if Clinton had won. He wasn't that great, though. Just good in comparison to the alternatives (people he ran against, people who preceded him, and people who were nominated to succeed him).

Kind of in the sense I already miss Obama's more lyrical approach in speeches. I found Trump's inauguration speech singularly awful. I fear it's going to be a long four years.

No, Torie, it's going to be a long eight years. Smiley

A more emphatic yes now.  Trump has been most skillful in reinforcing my worst fears about the man. It's just awful.

That may be so, but not for that. I miss GWB too. I'd take Bush, Romney, or McCain in a heartbeat now. Even Cheney's starting to look good now.

I know you used to be a Republican (a fiscally conservative Orange County-type Republican, if I remember correctly, so not exactly Trump's base). It's barely been more than a week and here we are. So far, things are going exactly as I expected. I'm one that believed he would do almost everything he said he was going to do. We're probably not too far away from the next recession. We can only hope the worst coincides with the midterms (and no, I am not hoping for a recession, only that if we have one that the party in power suffers appropriately).
