If 2018 is a bad year for the GOP would Steve Bellone the County Executive of Suffolk County be the opponent to beat Peter King? As a NYer I can't stand King and would love to see him out

I like Peter King. I like his accent. He appeals to a lot of Long Islanders. King wins 63-35.

I've wanted King gone for years, but shouldn't we focus on getting rid of Zeldin first? He'd be way easier to defeat since he's only been there for 2 terms, unlike King who's been in Congress since time began.

I disagree NY- 01 is more R friendly then King's district

Yikes, didn't know that. Nassau/Suffolk town results still aren't available yet,

Until King retires, we won't know how much of his vote is personal and how much is because he's a Republican. Long Island's love for GOP State Senators is bad enough as it is, I hope it doesn't spread to US Congressmen as well.

King is safe until he retires but the seat is a tossup when it opens up. The Nassau portion of the district is heavily working class/middle class Republican but the Suffolk portion has high minority population communities. Bellone has had a fallout with the Town of Babylon Dem Chairman who oversees the portion of the district in Suffolk, but I agree he would be a top recruit for Dems as someone who would do well in the Suffolk portion of the district and be more competitive in the Nassau portion of the district. Definitely more winnable than NY-01 in an open race.
