Will the outcome be determined by Trumps performance.. or will the country be divided no matter Trumps performance?

ie Is there a chance that.. Trump will be so popular that noone can beat him....  or ..... trump will be so unpopular that anyone credible enough to get the Dem nomination would beat him.

Thinking you can win regardless of candidate is what sank the Democrats this year.

The OP question is an it different than the poll options.

Bill De Blasio could lose, obviously.

Obviously option three, though it also depends on what happens over the next four years.

None of the above. Events during Trump's term will be much more important than who either party nominates, though of course that does have an effect.

Cory Booker or Tulsi Gabbard given the Senate lineup and the demographics of Latinos can win a race against Trump. Ensuring that 279 blue wall is in place; WI, PA, VA, MI  is blue once again with Democratic Govs

I guess part of the question is asking whether or not you thought events of the Trump nomination would go well, or not go well...

I doubt de blasio will ever become a nominee for anything outside state politics.

Bad poll. It will depend on factors other than who the nominee is.

Thinking you can win regardless of candidate is what sank the Democrats this year.

Ironically, the thinking was more along the lines of you can win only with this one particular candidate.

This, although the other line of thinking was common among ordinary people.

I'd really like to see a Tulsi Gabbard/Ron Wyden ticket. But I feel a fusion ticket of the bases would be best and I think a woman candidate at the top of the ticket could battle Trump/Pence very well. Amy Klobucher, Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, Val Demings and Maggie Hassan could form exploratory bids, I feel having a non-name like Demings though could be very interesting. But I personally like Gabbard then Klobucher. I almost feel that Al Franken would be a great Veep, he's all about policy as he's known to get a lot of work done in passing bills.
