Let's be real for a second here. Lying is in a sense an integral part of politics. But let's also realize that there are conventions surrounding lying in politics. Everybody knows that as a politican you often have to avoid telling the absolute truth. But there is also in almost every politican, the sense that you cannot just tell an outright blatant lie. Avoiding telling the truth is OK. Even saying something deliberately misleading without actually lying directly, is considered necessary at times and most politicians have done it.

What we are witnessing with Trump is making the lies the campaign itself. There is no shame in the lying. If caught lying, Trump and his people just double down on the lying and calls the people that call them out untrustworthy. No backtracking ever. And they lie about even the most petty things like crowd sizes, polls and probably penis sizes. People seem to love that Trump never backtracks, that he stays "real". But there is nothing "real" about chronically lying and never admitting it. It is quite amazing and disturbing to watch. This is third world dictator stuff, that we've usually joked about in the western world. This is Baghdad Bob. This is Kim-Jong Un. This is something that should not be able to happen in a western county in 2017. Wake up people.

Trump manipulates the media with gusto.

And I hear that his entire strategy for doing so is laid out in clear language in The Art of the Deal. I've never read the book, but apparently nor has anyone in the MSM.
To be honest, Trump probably hasn't read it either.
