I'm a little confused about this. Now Madonna is saying she against Trump yet before the election she was publically threatening to give a blow job to anyone who voted Clinton. Make your mind up dear.

Sadly, I was unable to make it to a march, but I have several friends who went to D.C and a few others who were in Philly. They all say it went well.

Abortion is down -- way down. Maybe it is because fewer women are getting raped. Maybe it is because people got more optimistic while Obama was President.

Actually, the consensus is that abortion is down because access and use of contraception is up, no thanks to those who keep flogging failed "abstinence only" programs of sex ed.

So the Trump administration wants to defund Planned Parenthood, making access and use of contraception harder to come by for many females. How smart is that?

It is: once you understand that they are, actually, pro-abortion.

In fact, in the interest of honesty and clarity, I suggest a slight modification of the usual terms. The so-called "pro-life" people should be designated as "pro-abortion", while the "pro-choice" folk should proudly carry the name of the "anti-abortion". Would cause a lot less confusion than the terminology we (mis)use now.

Douthat goes on to note that in the 80's and 90's, this sort of funding was cut. The unplanned pregnancy actually rose in tandem with a decline in family planning funding (expected), while the abortion rate fell, meaning the abortion rate is more a function of women choosing to procure abortions than a function of unplanned pregnancy, rendering the "pro-life case for PP" absurd.

Besides if actual family is really so important to social liberals, and abortion really is such a small portion of Planned Parenthood's business, why don't they just you know, get our of the baby butcher business? It's not like Cardinal Burke, Russell Moore, and Thomas Monson put a gun to PP's head and ordered them to bundle their services.

Teocracy being the status quo in many of those countries, it is not a radical position. Most people you would call "teocrats" there present exactly zero danger to you.

In fact, of course, it is not even the fundamentalism that is a problem. The Amish are fundamentalists, and so are many Jews. Yet, nobody is proposing to deport the Boro Park rabbis to Guantanamo.

Religious fundamentalism may make it easier to recruit and organize rebels, but it is not the cause of rebellions. 50 years ago the bulk of the Palestinian resistance was perfectly irreligious (ranging, mostly, from mild socialist or even liberal to outright Commie). The mullahs at the time were the source of stability. If every single Middle Easterner were to miraculously convert tomorrow into a mildest form of Anglicanism, it would change very little, as far as their attitude to the outside world, I am afraid.
