Reading on twitter that Bill O'Reilly had a segment on Chicago tonight on his show and used the same language that later showed up in Trump's tweet.

The local government in Chicago has utterly failed to protect its residents.  It's a national disaster there, and absolutely nothing is being done to reverse it.  I wouldn't support the President arbitrarily deploying the feds into Chicago.  There does need to be a national discussion though.  Congress needs to do something. 

How many Chicago residents you want the Feds to kill? Would a couple of million be good? Or would you be fine with a mere 100,000 or so? Clearly, you would not be satisfied with less.

1. You're likely to see a lot of discrimination. I can guarantee you these troops are going to be given specific orders to profile and they're not going to be deployed to areas like Evergreen Park or the North Side.
2. Yes, something needs to be done. No, sending in the National Guard is not a long term solution.
3. Let's say you're unlawfully shot by a Guardsmen. How likely is it you'll get justice?
4. This encourages a breakdown in national spirit, replaced with allegiances to party and state.
5. Extended deployment for the National Guard will wear men thin and likely lead to protests from their ranks.
6. This doesn't address any underlying problems.

The 'Feds' are already there DOJ, FBI, ATF have been assisting the CPD for years. Unless he is talking about federalizing the National Guard and sending them in which would be a disaster.

The troops will follow the orders. Whether it will be legal, who knows. But, then, who will care about legality in a month or two?
