After I become Governor, would it be legal for me to continue to operate this thread? Or is that the job of the current Speaker?

I am reintroducing the Southern Right to Work Act.

Southern Right to Work Act.

Given that - States across the south have passed right to work in their economies, every southern state now has it.

Given that - the South has made considerable employments and industry gains over the rest of the country.

Given that - allowing workers to set their own wages is better for both the employee and the employer.

Given that - we don't want to become like Detroit.

Be it resolved that:

All labor unions are henceforth voluntary. Employers cannot require an employee to join a union in order to maintain employment. This includes employees in the public and private sectors.

Labor unions may not withdraw funds from paychecks before they are deposited. Any employee currently belonging to a labor union may withdraw at any time by submitting a letter of intent.

Southern Right to Unionize Act (looking for another Southern citizen to cosponsor under Article IV, Clause 7 of the Southern constitution)

Given that - we don't want to become like Detroit.

Given that - Michigan is a right-to-work state.

Be it resolved that:

No legislation shall be considered in the Southern Chamber of Delegates which bans employers from requiring union membership for employees.

Article IV, Clause 7 of the Southern constitution clearly states that two Southern citizens can petition for legislation to be considered.

The Constitution give the same power to "the governor", "any representative", and "two Southern citizens" when it comes to introducing legislation. It says that if two Southern citizens petition to introduce [identical] legislation, it "shall first be considered in the South Legislature."

I don't think that's necessary. If he wants to sponsor it, then great, but I followed the procedure set forth in our Constitution and want the Chamber to follow those standards.

If the bill has the support of the Labor party, I would expect that the present Labor delegate would sponsor the legislation.

That the Labor delegate hasn't sponsored this legislation suggests to me that the Labor delegate does not support this legislation.

Which makes me ask the question as to why, if NeverAgain doesn't support the legislation that you are putting it forth.

I don't believe that the politics of a similarly-minded Delegate and my motives behind this legislation are relevant, but I don't think a lack of response from Delegate NeverAgain implies his opposition to the proposal.

lol. Goodness gracious. First off, the bill is fine, I of course support the right to unionize and for working peoples to negotiate fair wages.

Also, to Ben's "point", we as Laborites are unique individuals who each agree and disagree on many issues. So stating that because both myself, and JTC are from the same party, we should agree on everything is extremely silly. I, of course, recognize that you have an issue with comradery and unity, so I wouldn't expect you to understand.

On the issue of the bill, I am more than happy to sponsor it, but I would prefer that Mr. Cuber do it when he is elected to the Chamber this weekend.

I introduced, cosponsored, petitioned, whatever you want to call it, this legislation partly to point out the irony of a preamble clause of Speaker Ben Kenobi's legislation; however, I hope that the Chamber considers this bill as I believe the Southern Constitution very clearly says it should. I will withdraw my support from this legislation if a Delegate proposes similar legislation, but if I'm elected, don't expect me to back down.
