Wow, she's only 53.   Any reason given as to why?

How likely is it Democrats can convince Nancy Boyda to try for a comeback here? The seat's still Safe R in my eyes, but it's worth a shot.

Also, this means Kevin Yoder will be the senior most member of congress for the state. And given how Clinton won KS-03 and Democrats might target him, we could very well see a complete shift in congressional representation for Kansas (happened in 2010, too).

I would call this Safe R, but we should get a fun primary at least.

Probably yes. IIRC - there are both conservative and moderate Republican legislators whose districts overlap with Jenkins's

Democrats couldn't hold this seat with an incumbent in 2008. Safe R

Boyda probably isn't the best candidate.  Most believe that she ran a very poor campaign in 2008 and by refusing DCCC assistance, she lost what should have been a winnable race.

Nancy Boyda would have lost badly in the 2010 GOP wave, maybe even in 2012 like Larry Kissell (D-N.C.)

Not at all. Her daughter just got married - she's excited to be a Grandma. She wants to be in Kansas permanently.

No one in politics ever actually wants to be closer to their family.

That's what they all say.
