25/20/13 over Faulconer and Garcetti. Sadly, Thiel not tested. Also Steyer at 4%, LOL.

Interesting poll, I hope Faulconer runs because he will make the race competitive. Sad they didn't do head to head polls.

At this point a "competitive" Republican in California is someone who can actually make it past the primary. That's the best they can hope for.

Faulconer would never actually win, but he could maybe get within 10 points, which would help the congresscritters hold on (and maybe pick up the 7th, although that might be asking too much).

I'm really an "any Democrat but Newsom, except for Villarigosa" person. I hope Garcetti or Chiang can catch up.

Also polled Senate, where Becerra leads Faulconer (21 to 18) with Swearengin and Sherman further behind. I sure as sh**t hope Democrats don't try to prop up Eric Swalwell.

Chiang needs to start pulling for an endorsement from Bernie, and quick.

Yes! Newsom, Faulconer, Thiel, and Steve Westly are all great.

Explain what you think about Peter Thiel

He supported Meg Whitman, Justin Amash, Chuck Hagel, Jeff Flake, Richard Tisei, Rand Paul, Susan Collins, Gordon Smith, and Dino Rossi, and seems to be a libertarian-leaning moderate.

Yes, but he also has troubling views on free speech and women's rights

Besides his extremely successful business career, ties to Elon Musk, and his extremely eccentric personality? No.

A Jerry Brown endorsement would mean a lot too.

Assuming Faulconer doesn't run (he's probably smart enough to realize that the best he can hope for is to crest 40% in a midterm where California Dems will be mad as hell about Trump), the key for Dems should be getting two D's in top two, or else a Democrat who could actually win Orange County (which will be home to 3-4 key congressional races).

I'm not even sure Faulconer is that strong of a candidate.  Sure he's the best candidate Republicans have but i) he's not that well known outside San Diego, and ii) even in San Diego there has been a lot criticism about how he has handled the homelessness crisis the city is facing.

I think Faulconer should run for CA-52, but that may be a step down, since it's smaller than the city of San Diego. Anyway, Republicans need to make sure a candidate advances to the runoff, otherwise, it may discourage turnout and cost them a few House seats.

Eh. The best they can hope for will happen one day, when the dems cannibalize themselves and end up with a weaker candidate vs. a lesser offensive republican. Think Edwards/ Duke in Louisiana, with parties switched, or more recently bel Edwards and Vitter

I like Garcetti, but it has little to do with politics, although I hear mostly good things about him.

Steyer will at least be able to rise to double digits if he starts flooding the airwaves. The current numbers probably reflect name recognition more than anything.

If Kevin Faulconer doesn't run the chances of this being a D vs D race pretty much quadruple.

I'm thinking he won't since the odds are pretty slim of him winning (Trump as President, it's California).   He especially won't if it's obvious his opponent is Newsom.   Newsom would have the benefit in the Bay Area, which is where the highest voter turnout typically is in the state.

I think Faulconer should run for CA-52, but that may be a step down, since it's smaller than the city of San Diego. Anyway, Republicans need to make sure a candidate advances to the runoff, otherwise, it may discourage turnout and cost them a few House seats.

Iowa seats that Clinton got ~45% of the vote in are gone forever for the Democrats....but a San Diego seat Clinton won 58% - 37% is completely winnable "for the right Republican".    Okay.

Shame about Chiang. Maybe it's not to late to run for Feinstein's senate seat.

How could you leave out his beautiful hands? Honestly, he must get like a weekly manicure or something because it's like nothing I've ever seen in person. He would be amazing.
