Turning and turning in its widening gyre,
The falcon cannot hear the Faulconer.

This is great news. If CA ends up with Newsom and Harris as their front-politicians, my home state has the best possible representation. Still doubt that Faulconer is actually running, especially if the Trumpster is unpopular. He would be doing better than most GOPers but still lose. I just hope we won’t end up with another Dem vs. Dem race. The jungle primary is horrible.

Well one of them (both of them?) will end up President sooner or later.

That isn't necessarily true, but it's possible.

Wow, Jerry Brown really did destroy the CA Democratic Party all over again. They're lucky to have no real opposing party.

I see few stronger candidates for the Ds in 2020 than Kamala.

There are a handful, but Harris is also my number one choice. Newsom isn't running in 2020, even if he wins the governorship. Maybe four years later if the Republicans prevail.

Btw, has Harris endorsed Newsom yet? Newsom himself endorsed her from Day one.

I don't think she's officially endorsed but I feel like it's one of those things that goes unsaid. They've been allies for a long time and come from the same wing of the party.

She mignt not run, and if she runs, she might lose (primary or general).

Newsom doesn't necessarily come from the same wing as Harris. He's constantly straddled the fine line between Kamala Harris, Jerry Brown, and Loretta Sanchez, only just recently semi-breaking from the last of these.

How?   The California Dems are probably in the top 5 or so for state political parties in terms of organization and candidate strength.

If anything they might be going through a transition phase between older politicians and younger ones.    But that's hardly "destroying" anything.
