Why does she get so much hate on this forum? It seems like this website is dedicated to ensuring she loses every single election in the future and keeping her out of politics for as long as possible. THis is the same frothing-at-the-mouth hatred everyone had a go at Trump supporters for.

So what if she met Assad? He's a damn sight better that ISIS. No she is not a homophobe or Islamophobe. However, if we use that logic, we can call Hillary a white supremacist for being close with Robert Byrd or working for Barry Goldwater. Or we could call Obama a traitor because Jeremiah Wright.

Seriously, just lay off. You're all so obsessed with wanting to see her fail that soon enough, that will become your sole objective.

Sorry I have a serious problem with a U.S congresswoman meeting with a dictator currently in the middle of committing heinous war crimes.  Totally the same as Hillary meeting with a sitting senator though, sure.....

You attempt to smear Tulsi Gabbard for meeting with a dictator, yet did you ever complain about the Democratic Nominee for POTUS meeting with dictators all over the world?
While Gabbard is trying to achieve peace and keep Syria out of the hands of Islamic Extremists, Queen Hillary was allowing South Sudan to forcibly conscript children into it's army and calling Uzbekistan an ally in war against terror, while they were boiling people alive, but did you ever complain about that...no, your bias is showing.

How stupid are you?

Its the SoS's job to meet foreign leaders on behalf of the president and to further our countries interests. Tulsi Gabbard, a congresswoman with no authority on foreign policy, went on a trip to Syria without telling anyone and met with a war criminal. Its not comparable.

Yeah this.

The strawmens and false equivalences being created to defend this are just silly.

Would you not agree that a member of congress who sits on the Foreign Affairs Committee the Armed Services Commmittee and the Subcommittee on Europe, Eurasia and Emerging Threats, has the authority to meet with foreign leaders and discuss the merits (or lack thereof) of US policy.

And she has a new op/ed piece which covers much of the same ground:

https://gabbard.house.gov/news/in-the-news/op-ed-us-must-stop-helping-terrorists-fighting-syria-s-government

It seems she met with the pretend opposition (the Assad stooges who “run against him” in elections where he’s getting 97% of the vote), and they told her things like this:

IMHO, it’s a totally respectable position to say that it’s counterproductive to arm any of the rebel groups, because we’re just prolonging the inevitable, or we don’t know where the weapons will end up.  But Gabbard seems to go farther than that and seems to have gone on a trip to Syria to meet with people exclusively in Assad-held territory, hearing Assad’s side of the story from people who say that all of those who have taken up arms against him are “terrorists”….and she takes all of this at face value.  No mention of Assad’s war crimes here…

In a release, Gabbard’s office said the trip was approved by the House Ethics Committee and was sponsored by the Arab American Community Center for Economic and Social Services.

“Originally, I had no intention of meeting with Assad, but when given the opportunity, I felt it was important to take it," she said in the release. "I think we should be ready to meet with anyone if there’s a chance it can help bring about an end to this war, which is causing the Syrian people so much suffering."

The horror!

Also, lol at the red avatars in this thread trying to make it seem like this was some sort of secret covert trip to Syria for the sole purpose of meeting Assad.

He's a horrible person, no doubt, but I'd rather have him run things than ISIS.

Doesn't mean you should go sit down with him and then spout his exact propaganda.

Except a lot of the rebels are largely radical Islamists to a great extent. There's not much of a moderate opposition left.

The USSR government during and before WW2 was a evil as an government can get yet we allied with them to win WW2. Like the USSR we can deal with Assad later, ISIS is the bigger threat and must be stopped as soon as possible

But Gabbard hasn't simply said he's better than ISIS.  She's gone on a trip to Syria in which she (apparently) only visited Assad-controlled territory, and talked to Assad-approved Syrians, then came back to the US, seemingly believing everything they said.  No acknowledgement in her commentary of Assad's crimes, or that Assad might be manipulating the stories she was hearing on this trip.

Well I've also never been the Governor of a state where I encouraged riots and attacks on non-evangelicals and was banned from visiting foreign countries due to that.

While I admire your principled anti-Modi stand to an extent, no American politician is going to get in trouble for links with the BJP or RSS while they're still important political players in India.

Yes, that is 100% correct. ISIS is ravaging the middle east and Syria would be a good ally to have in the battle. At this point, the US needs every possible ally to help combat ISIS. It is idiotic that the Obama Administration didn't even recognize when ISIS actually became a major threat.

Why do people still think it's 2015 and that ISIS are dominating? They've lost something like 40% of their territory in Mosul, have lost their foreign fighters and are on the retreat. ISIS are hardly ravaging the middle east, and frankly Syria/Russia have always been a sh**tty unreliable partner in fighting terrorism

-ISIS recaptured Palmyra in December, and is currently attacking Deir ez-Zor.

Yet have lost 40% of their territory, and are currently being surrounded/sieged in Mosul. The main aim should be to beat them in Iraq.

You saying something is propaganda is funny.  It's all you have been spewing for the past year or so.   So please take a damn seat before trying to make a point like that.

The Washington Post was running 16 hit pieces a day against Bernie. They always take the failed establishment line on how we should start $2 trillion wars that lead to the development of ISIS. They breathlessly reported on how the fact that one of the millions of laptops with malware happened to be at a Vermont utility company meant that the Russians had infiltrated the US grid. They really are a joke rag.
