Obama's is the only one that is known to the wider general public...

Kinda surprised how... bad Warren's was. She needs a better speechwriter, for one thing, but her delivery isn't anything special either.

Booker's DNC speech was good.

I agree.. she doesn't have as much "natural" political talent as some ppl think.   Booker's was good- But I think sometimes he comes across as too energized.  To Me-- Castro's tone and message were the best (and closest to Obama's).

Also- I think Castro has the best or most compelling backstory, childhood, etc. (even more so than Obama... who really had a very comfortable & fairly normal childhood in Hawaii .. in many respects. Castro certainly has more of a working class childhood than Booker or Obama).  Also- Castro is better at coming across less partisan (in tone).. than Booker or Warren (prob b/c he comes from a Red- verging purple state... rather than deep Blue states like NJ & Mass).

I told people Castro has a charisma that they are all sleeping on in 2020

-There is no such thing as too high-energy.

Castro simply does not have the experience to get nominated President.

I think Booker could be good also- only time will tell.

But regarding Castro & Experience... I'm not saying he will be on the ticket in 2020- but its hard to argue he doesn't have the experience- given a current President Trump (who was a businessman... really in just one sector of the economy... real estate.)  Castro was Mayor of a City 2.5 times the size of Vermont.  And even if its said to have a weak mayor model- Castro took on a larger role as mayor & pushed initiatives like Universal Pre-K (so that would be equivalent to providing Universal Pre-K to any 10 of the States that have a smaller population than San Antonio).  Also- executive experience as HUD Secretary.. which provides him with knowledge and familiarity with the National Government. Not to mentioned an impressive educational background in Stanford Undergrad/ Harvard Law.

And regarding Mayor of San Antonio.... Being the ceremonial leader of a city larger than 10 US States... is important in that part of being a good president, is being a good ceremonial leader that can motive ppl.

There also seems to be a model of less experience President/ more experienced VP that has become somewhat of the norm... Bush/Cheney  ...  Obama/ Biden ... Trump/Pence.

(On a side note- I like the younger President/ Older VP model... because it often leads to the nomination being open after 8 year... rather than the VP being the  presumptive nominee.  This leaves the subsequent nomination open to talent that may have emerged during those 8 years).

I've seen both Booker and Castro speak in person, really not even close as to who the better speaker is. Booker's arguably the best Democrat I've seen at connecting with a room since Obama. But he has other liabilities that (I think) will damn him in a Democratic primary.

Was Castro impressive in person as well? (Watching his DNC Speech certainly was IMO)

The greatest one I saw was Gavin Newsom's. It was the only speech I started watching that I never looked away from.

The Martin Heinrich speech was the only one I could really find (that was convention/ campaign style speech) ... But he certainly had a bit more energy than his interviews I've seen...

I saw him at a Hillary campaign event, which was admittedly not a venue that offered opportunity to , but he was certainly good. Dynamic and energetic, but also a little scripted and didn't really say anything that was profound or particularly offbeat from the Democratic party line (which isn't necessarily a bad thing). Imo he just seems like a young, talented, good-looking public speaker who's caught a few lucky breaks in terms of getting noticed.
