IF, and it's a huge if, the substance remains in solid. Form, this article isn't overselling this discovery's importance by much.

I'm sure the scientists responsible for this are none too pleased that their breakthrough is being reported as "FLYING CARS IMMINENT".

No kidding. The applications are profound.

They shouldn't have announced it yet, Trump and the Republicans will ban the research since it's from Satan or Science, the two evil S's.

That and we don't know if they have something or just trying to get more grant money.

Other scientists aren't convinced.

Meanwhile, back on the topic at hand. I'll believe it when it's replicated. This sounds a lot like the EM drive story from last month.

Has pretend-president Pussygrabber taken credit for this yet?

Re: Metallica H.

This is, at best, an academic success.

There are a lot of elememts that only exist for nanoseconds already in the periodic table as they are unstable on Earth.

So the best you can hope for here is an explanation of what Hydrogen does at the center of a dense star.

Until someone finds an engineering use of merit, it remains an interesting scientific discovery.

It's so bizarre to me when people stride into these sorts of threads and start authoritatively discussing PhD-level topics that they had no idea existed five minutes prior

"Discussion" would mean that you could actually converse in a scientific sense on the subject, but clearly, from your reply, you have no knowledge on this subject outside what you can search on Google in the next 10 minutes.

Having to tend to tepid forum responses from someone who does not know the first thing about the subject is insulting to someone who studied sub-atomic physics at University.

This is what is bizarre.

I don't go around criticizing people here with political science degrees, and tell them their theories on politics are wrong.
