With Evan Jenkins vacating this seat to run for Senate, who will run to replace him?

He lives in the district, so maybe. He lost the area badly to Justice, but there's probably not a real risk of that in a Congressional election.

On the Democratic side (I know, I know), any chance Earl Ray Tomblin runs like he was considering a while back?

He got destroyed here. Definitely not the best candidate.

Any chances of a Democratic pick up in this seat?

Any chances of a Democratic pick up in this seat?

Tomblin was mentioned last cycle - if any Dem could win it, it would be him. He carried it 54/42 when he last ran statewide.

The two most obvious nominees here would either be Cole (who is a close friend of Jenkins and was actually his campaign manager in 2014) or former state Delegate Rick Snuffer, who was the Republican nominee here in 2004 (when he got crushed) and 2012 (when he came within single-digits of Rahall). I would be quite surprised if Republicans run someone other than the two of those.

I wanted to suggest Ken Hechler as a possibility for the Democratic nomination here, but then I remembered he passed away in 2016 Sad

A Bill Cole/Earl Ray Tomblin showdown would be an awesome election to watch. Let's all root for that.

Justice's victory shows WV will still vote for the right Dem, and no more 'War on Coal' gives Ds there more breathing room.

Hechler is by far one of the best people to ever be a part of government in West Virginia.
