He supports it... but if they're doing a "bad job" he will be very "sad!" when he has to withdraw from it.

Pretty sure NATO is an actual treaty, which means the Senate would have to vote on withdrawal, and at the very least McCain, Graham, Flake, Murkowaki, Rubio, and Corker would vote against.

I don't count on Republican Senators for anything anymore, and neither should you. They will always fall in line.
This wouldn't be just confirming a cabinet secretary, this would be radically changing America's place in the World and indeed the entire alignment of world geopolitics. Most likely they just wouldn't let it come up for vote in the Senate in order to avoid voting against the President.
