No. I like Chuck Schumer, and he still didn't have much time to prove himself.

Dirty Harry Reid is a very nasty human being, and although I do grudgingly respect his skills as a legislator and political player, I do not miss him one bit.

I like Harry Reid quite a bit, so I voted yes out of pure reaction, but I do think Chuck Schumer may be even better.

Well, at least Harry Reid wasn't the most pro Wall Street Senator, but that's a low bar and he still sucked.

No. I found him a singularly unpleasant and humorless man, who seemed to harbor anger in his soul. Schumer is a much more balanced kind of chap.

You actually think Chuck Schumer is more "pro-Wall Street" (the horror) than every single Republican in DC?  Lol.

Well, the evidence shows that the Democratic Party is somewhat more pro-Wall St than the GOP, and has been since the Clinton years. TARP is an example of this.

Doesn't make jfern's post less stupid, though.

Hardly.  Wall Street donated MUCH more money to Romney than Obama, and I think that is the last election in quite some time where there wasn't an obviously picked winner ahead of time (though they were obviously wrong about Trump, the point still stands), and Wall Street tends to back people they think are going to win.  In an unsure election, I think they show their true colors.  They have also donated much more money to Congressional Republicans than Democrats, and Republicans very regularly vote in higher numbers for things they support like cutting taxes, loosening regulation, free trade, etc.  Obviously a senior New York Senator is going to be cozy with them, but to say he's more "pro-Wall Street" than the types of Republicans who get heavy funding from the Chamber of Commerce (which gives about 90% of its donations to Republicans) is a huge stretch, IMO.

Wall St.'s interests are not the same as the Chamber of Commerce. All of those things you talk about don't mean the same thing to broker-dealers or investors as they do to Koch Industries or whatever other business. The establishment of the Democrats and Republicans have been one party masquerading as two since the 90s, especially on this issue. In terms of perpetuating moral hazard and throwing taxpayer money at reckless individuals, the Democrats are worse than the Republicans. At least the GOP has the Tea Party/Libertarian wing that generally opposes those things, if not always for the right reasons.
