do you save your pocket change in a jar/piggy bank?

if so, how much do you let accumulate before you cash it in at a coinstar or bank?

Yes, I save it in a big jar and when it's full I roll it up and put it in my son's college savings account.

I usually find simple ways of spending pocket change. If I know from experience that my daily lunch costs exactly 2.45$, I will sometimes alternate between giving the clerk three dollars and then using the change from yesterday plus two dollars to pay for tomorrow's lunch. The problem is, the last time I owned a piggy bank, I accidentally dropped it on the floor while moving it from the living room to my bedroom (which not only shattered the ceramic, but also made a mess of the accumulated coins). Right now, either I spend my pocket change somehow or another (the example above, vending machines, garage parking permit machines, et cetera) or, for quarters, keep them in a plastic cup. As for my old coins, they're in the closet somewhere. Smiley

When I get enough for a roll, it goes into the bank.  Generally a savings account.

Keep it in a jar, save it up but also dig in for a couple bucks when necessary.

I roll it as soon as I have enough, and once I have like 5 or 6 rolls I deposit in a savings account.

Well, I "save" it as in I keep it in my wallet until that compartment begins to overflow, at which point I try to empty it out.  I don't actually use physical cash all that much anymore, though.

Well, there's nothing wrong with saving your pocket change even if you are not poor, though it does tend to imply a compulsive personality that cannot relax and let things go.  I remember one time when I was a teenager I was chased by a big dog and I threw my pocket change at him!

Certainly the $15/hour minimum wage would help alleviate such psychological problems, and certainly most of you do vote against your own interests.

Did that make him stop or did he still catch you and hump your leg?

I think his intent was to bite me, NewRepublican.

I have a jar that I've put every piece of change I find in for the past 4 or so year.  I'm just short of 20 dollars now.
