Insa/YouGov poll for the Bild newspaper:

Germans disapprove by 13-78 of the job he's doing as POTUS so far.

Germans disapprove by 12-84 of the travel ban from 7 Muslim countries.

Germans disapprove by 11-87 of a politician like Trump as German head of state.

Only AfD-voters approve all these questions by 60%+ ...

Germans, like most Europeans, are keenly aware of authoritarianism from their own history of it. They know how to identify it and what it means, hence why only the authoritarians in Germany (AfD) approve. Everyone else can see it for the cancer it is and how deeply Trump embodies it.

Notice how this question's support is twice as high as Trump's job approval among Germans.

This question probably attracts the support of some people who like politicians who put their campaign promises into action, but who dislike Trump as a person.

Germans disapprove by 12-84 of the travel ban from 7 Muslim countries.

You mean they disapprove of the US's travel ban, or they would disapprove of such a travel ban existing in Germany?

I'd be curious to know how well such a travel ban would poll in various European countries, provided that neither the US nor Trump is mentioned in the poll question.

I should note that "being liked" is not what he meant, or any conservative means, by that.

i am pretty sure, america was respected more under obama than it is going to be under trump.

i someone takes me hostage or threatens me, i take him seriously but surely wouldn't "respect" him.

LOL, Germany should become the 51st US state and as such would prevent any Republican from winning another national election with its 100+ electoral votes.

Europeans dislike republican presidents. News at 11.

Reagan sported a 20% approval rating among germans in a 1988 poll. That should tell you all you need to know.

The republican part is miles to the right of the median european voter. Why would they like any republican?

There's more to it than that though.  The more nationalist party is almost always the less popular party outside its own borders, because (shocker) nationalism in your own country plays better than some other country's nationalism.

Trump combines the toxish Republican brand in Europe with a crazy-uncle attitude and the policies of the pro-brexit/pro-le pen ant-europe sentiment which is atm victim of a pro-unity backlash....

perfect (sh**t)storm.
