Bumping this. As you can see, it likely does need some work. I will welcome amendments and suggestions.

I wouldn't support extending this to non-spouses. You should only get pat leave if you're married to your wife. If you're not married, well then. Get married.

Well, why not elaborate what you don't like about the bill and maybe we can amend it to fit those desires.

The bill concerns Paternity provisions. I think that in order to get paternity benefits you need to be married to your wife. As for a single mother - they will generally have the obligations of raising their child.

Also, I'm not sure I support this because isn't this best left to businesses to determine what they want to pay to their employees? If businesses want to offer mat/pat leave benefits then that should be left to them.

I am very confused by this bill. Judging by the title, it sounds like the intent is to provide paid leave to new fathers, but I'm not sure where it says that in this bill. Also, "unless is could potentially cause economic harm" is gloriously vague. I'm not arguing against the idea, but someone needs to propose an amendment specifying (a) who qualifies for these benefits; (b) under what circumstances; and (c) for how long.

Alright then, I'll take into consideration all of your opinions and find a way to fix the bill before the House election.

Seeing as I doubt that anyone will have a problem with this, I won't open a vote for the tabling.
