Think about it. Democrats may be bitterly divided in 2020. Andrew Cuomo? Too moderate. Kamala Harris? Too green. Cory Booker? Obama 2.0. Elizabeth Warren? Another academic. Bill de Blasio? Too far left. Tulsi Gabbard? Too compromised with President Bashar al-Assad of Syria. Former New York City Controller Bill Thompson would be a good, sane, moderate compromise candidate against Trump. Why?
-Experienced. Served in government all of his career
-African-American moderate. Could appeal to Jewish voters.
-Knows the big city media. Ran for mayor two times against proven candidates (Bloomberg, De Blasio)
-Chairman of the City University of New York (CUNY). Understands college and education issues.

I promise you if Bill Thompson is the nominee, I will vote for him, guaranteed. America would be lucky to have him.

He is a good man. He ran the City's finances well under Bloomberg.

ah, the typical "former municipal comptroller" --> "POTUS" career path.

lol looks like you've given up any pretense of not trolling.

That said, I wouldn't mind him challenging De Blasio.

This is not trolling. He'd be a dark horse candidate, out of the blue, like Bill Clinton was in '92.

Bill Clinton was a Governor, not a former city comptroller.

The vast majority of America doesn't even know what a comptroller is, let alone would consider a former city comptroller for president.

City Auditor. He balances budgets well. He'd eat into Trump's Italian-Irish base.

He'll do well with the BLM groups. He is acceptable to them. He opposes stop and frisk. He'd be a dark horse candidate. He lost to Bloomberg and De Blasio because they were exceptional candidates, but if they had never ran for mayor, he'd be mayor by now.

He'd do well with firefighters and police officers in the Midwest and South, because he bridges the divide. He isn't a flame-throwing black politician like a Sharpton or a Jackson.

Why do Italians matter so much? Not only do they not bloc vote or vote primarily on identity politics, they aren't significant in any swing state.

They do make up a little under 12% in Pennsylvania.

But it fits a very New York idea of politics, one that makes no sense nationally.
