It's interesting that once Trump and the u.s are removed from the picture Europe supports similar policies to Trumps

But is that because it's less popular than in the US, or because the electoral systems in European countries make it impossible for someone like Trump to take over one of the major parties in the way he did with the GOP?

Well, that did happen with the Austrian FPÖ, formerly a liberal party. It's not necessarily impossible to take over a major party, but it is impossible to lead that party to an absolute majority. But yeah, I agree with your main point.
