You would think the way Handel is speaking that Pelosi is this Machiavellian figure that wields all this power in the House. Lol.

Handel said that. In context she meant that she didn't support the idea of the minimum wage being increased to create a livable wage. But she did say those exact words before she explained herself.

Good lord, you can't ask for better attack ad material than that juicy soundbite.

^ Yeah it's the easiest soundbite ever.

Closing statements were very interesting. Ossoff ended on a positive note and painted the vision of an optimistic future. Handel ended by trashing Ossoff and calling him fake lol.

That sounds about what you'd expect from someone like Handel.

Ossoff and Handel were much more civil to each other than the expert panelists are to each other. Smiley

Judging by the way the debate went, Ossoff definitely has a lead. Handel threw everything and the kitchen sink at him and he just shruged it off. I will give her credit that her question of "Who'ee you voting for Jon" was her most effective remark tonight. But that is due more to how terrible her performance and debate skills are.

I didn't watch it, so is the general consensus that Ossoff performed better?

Overall yes.  Fans of both will think their candidate won.  I think an undecided voter, if there are any left, would probably be more inclined to Ossoff (caveat: I'm for Ossoff in this race.  But then, I voted for Handel in the 2010 primary.)

IMO the biggest points were both in Ossoff's favor: the health care exchange (admittedly a hard spot for any Republican to be in) and Handel's "livable wage" gaffe.  That's going to haunt her.

Yeah, I was reading thru the thread and thought that that will doom her.

Not going to lie, it's going to be a big blow if Ossoff loses this election.

Again Kandel can't afford to have Cobb that far behind so that is very concerning for her

What's this whole "Who are you voting for,  John?" thing? In their election? In the 2016 race?

Oh, lemme guess. For Speaker of the House?

He lives just outside of the district, so he can't vote for himself. (He's said he'll move into the district if he wins)

No, it was a way of getting at his residency outside the district.  But he answered it forthrightly.

Heh. She should've followed up with a question about who he's voting for Speaker. If she's bound and determined to run against Nancy Pelosi, it's as good a segue as any.

Anyone else get an Obama-esque vibe from the way Ossoff speaks?? It's very similar to Obama's speaking style, re the cadence and rhythm.

Glad to see a lot less Cobb in this electorate.
