I have read up on Holcomb's bio Army vet deployed overseas several state and elected rep in the area. The fact he passed up on this race tells all you know about Ossoff's chances.

I hate seeing progressives wind themselves up on this race which is a very likely loss. I see Maddow attacking the DCCC for not investing here but seriously the district still voted for Trump and has shown no willingness to elect other Ds. I can already see when Rs win pundits declaring it is sign there is no Trump backlash and 2018 with be a smooth year for the party.

I could see them pulling it off if they ran exclusively on "slow this chaos down!" Or "let's send a message!" and not as an ideological liberal. That'd be similar to how Scott Brown pulled off his win

Ossoff is just not the right candidate to pull off a upset he a C list recruit at best. Holcomb was the one to to potentially make this a race. If we had Holcomb in GA-6 and Schweitzer running in MT-AL that would show national Ds are serious. So far recruiting shows their saving their energy for 2018.

If Ds are going to go all out on this then I really wish Holcomb had run, mind as well have ran the best candidate we can.

That article also says the Congressional Leadership Fund (R) polling shows:

-Ossoff leading with 37%
-Ossoff favorability 41/30 (+11)
-Trump favorability (+6)
-Pelosi favorability 25/66 (-41)

This is why Pelosi should have gone a long time ago, even today she still polls worse than Paul Ryan and she hasn't had the Speakership in 7 years. I do think she motivates Rs and continues to be an effective bogeyman for them.

Yeah it's pretty mind-boggling that she's STILL the minority leader after all these years. Though probably that's because nobody else really wants the job, same as with Ryan.

If Ds don't win back the House in 2018 I think she will go.

Really hope Pelosi goes after 2018, she continues to be an anvil for D candidates after all these years and is not even a good spokesperson for the party.

Look at this tweet and tell me why Pelosi should remain minority leader, she was also a factor in losing FL-13 with Sink.

I agree with the sentiment, but I don't really think this tweet is evidence of that. That person would make the same jump with any Democratic House Leader.

Before I clicked, though, I thought it was going to be a quote from Pelosi saying something along the lines of "Ossoff is a true liberal, and a close personal friend. I am proud to endorse him and hope to see him in Congress next to me!"

No because most voters would not care who Tim Ryan or Joe Crowley is they'd have low name ID. Look at Schumer/McConnell's numbers most Americans don't know who they are.

Does this come up for anyone else when they type Jon Ossoff in Google? It seems weird that would be the top search about him.

Better then most realize. I actually like MT-AL better then this

Exactly, a lot of these WWC districts are a lot more elastic and friendly to Ds than suburban ones like GA-6. There are a lot of fiscal cons in who are very hostile to Dems in the suburbs and why I don't agree with the shift to high income suburbs strategy.

Apparently there is a debate with all 18 candidates, its basically 17 vs. 1. Don't know who thought this format was a good idea.

Today's Vote: https://mobile.twitter.com/Nate_Cohn/status/852327832185430016

Republicans: 52%
Democrats: 32%
Independents: 16%

Nate Cohn says Trump would've won today according to the data.

Yea, this was always going to be a heavy lift, I think Ds can win over suburban districts but the south is a different animal. I think the path to majority runs thru PA, NY, CA, MI, FL.

So was Ossoff really the best the Ds could put up, why did so many coalesce behind him and not the others? Keatley and Slotin seem to be decent candidates and seem to actually live in the district.
