I think Brady has surpassed Montana as the GOAT.

Heres why:

5 rings> 4 rings

Brady played in a much more competitive era

Brady never had the GOAT WR : Jerry Rice

Brady proved he is as clutch as Montana with todays winn

If I had to rank my top american sports players ever(nba , mlb, nfl)

heres my top 5

1. Micheal Jordan
2. Babe Ruth
3. Tom Brady
4. Joe Montana
5. Magic Johnson

Montana never lost a Super Bowl. Both are great, but Montana never lost a championship.

Bill Walton is the great American sports figure of all time. Michael Jordan was just an average athlete. Only far right prohibitionist loons are in denial.

Brady never had Jerry Rice and faced tougher competition

Brady has indeed surpassed Super Joe, who has a special place in my heart, as the GOAT. Belichick as well has surpassed Lombardi. To do what these guys have done in an era of a more complex, much faster game, and in an era of rampant commercialization, no one has anything on them.

Montana will always be my favorite, but honestly Brady is making more and more of a case for GOAT every year. Oh well, at least we still have Jerry Rice for GOAT WR.

Brady has had very good supporting casts and arguably the second best coach ever. There are MANY QBs who are better than him. Manning, Rodgers, Brees, Montana, Young, Marino, sh**t, even Favre is probably a better QB.

Brady, but judging a QB by Super Bowls won is a silly way to measure them.

So if Malcolm Butler doesn't make a timely interception, Brady's not as good of a QB? Or if David Tyree doesn't make an incredible catch, Brady's an even better QB?

I took the fact that Brady won more Without Jerry Rice and in a deeper league

Montana, Young, Rathman, Craig, Rice, John Taylor (who caught the game winning TD in SB XXIII), Ronnie Lott, Romanowski, Keena Turner, Dwight Clark, not to mention various linemen like Bubba Paris, would have been mid to top tier free agents for the 49ers in the 1980s if free agency existed. It did not.

The Patriots have dealt with free agency as a fact of life. It's just another obstacle. Deion Branch and Ted Bruschi to Randy Moss (!) to Welker to Gronk and the big players of today. Chris Hogan's breakout? It's amazing. I can't do anything but respect them at this point.

The "cheating" bit at this point is silly, really. Calling them cheaters is a point I cannot take seriously.

Could say the same for a lot of these, but brees? Give me a break man...

I may be biased, but your list is missing Aikman or Staubach

Missed Staubach, Aikman was good but he was also helped by his teammates a lot more too. As for Brees, well he puts up crazy numbers every year by having to pass like crazy. His teams have generally had no defense but the man is offensively gifted.
