Massive FF, one of the most underrated Presidents.  The two biggest complaints about him is that he was too big of a corporatist and that his administration was corrupt ... given the time he took over, IDGAF.

Lean HP, the worst thing he ever did was let Sherman have free reign on the South.

FF, but more as a man rather than president. I would consider him as an average president. Had good intentions, but was not a gifted politican. His military career, however, is outstanding and deserves great respect.

Not one of the great Presidents. Could have been worse. HP.

A good man, great general, well-meaning President, and absolutely terrible judge of character.

FF, an excellent general who is on the right side of history in the Civil War and in post-war politics. That said, his Presidential administration had plenty of well-known issues, and he absolutely deserved to lose to Garfield in 1880.

Okay, maybe Mike Johnson is a competent parliamentarian.

I'm not sure I entirely agree with the upward revisionism about him that's been going on in recent years, but still an FF overall.

For those interested, the Ultimate Guide to the Presidents series on the History Channel (can be found on YouTube) has a very interesting segment on Grant.  For some of its flaws (oversimplification being an obvious one, given the amount of history it crams into the series), that series does a good job painting ideological struggles in the context of their times, IMO.  For example, Jackson is painted as clearly to the left of Quincy Adams, given that the main debates of the time were centered around the influence that private enterprise would have over government affairs, and Jackson was clearly on the more "progressive" side of that debate.

There is even a hilarious segment that would about give Crabcake a heart attack where the narrator talks about "the fiscally conservative Grant" vetoing a spending bill, haha.

He won the Civil War. He secured the Republic in its time of crisis. For that, FF unto eternity. God bless him.
