I'm French and I'm going to vote Sarkozy. I just thing Segolene Royale does not have the suitable experience to be President just yet- maybe in a couple years. Chevenement has decided to rally Segolene BTW.

Royal still leads Sarkozy in the latest CSA/Le Monde poll conducted on January 3, 2007:

1st Round:

Ségolène Royal: 34%
Nicolas Sarkozy: 32%
Jean-Marie Le Pen: 15%
François Bayrou: 6%
Marie-George Buffet: 5%
Arlette Laguiller: 3%
Olivier Besancenot: 2%
Philippe de Villiers: 2%
Dominique Voynet: 1%

Run-Off:

Ségolène Royal: 52%
Nicolas Sarkozy: 48%

http://www.csa-fr.com/dataset/data2007/opi20070103a.htm

The PCF is doing better than in 2002, atleast for now... 5% is good score for them. If I was 18, I'd vote Sarkozy, atleast he's said something and he's going to do something to control immigration. No offense but I don't really know what Royal said yet!

Yup. Sarkozy is in the lead, so far, so good. I hope Royal will continue her gaffes and lead Sarkozy to the Presidency... with a large majority. What's up with this clown Dupont-Aignan? He needs to get help.

2. Where's Nihous?

In a recent poll I saw, if Chirac was candidate, he would have only 4%, behind Besancenot (4.5%)

Still Sarkozy for me, I hate Royal more and more everyday and Bayrou is a complete nitwit IMO.

Bah. I find it useless to have heart attacks over polls and look at polls like if they're the confirmed electoral results. Every poll has different date, LH2 might have Bayrou at 20, IPSOS might have him at 18-19.

Well, first Le Pen needs to run- last I heard he had troubles with his 500 endorsements, due on the 16th. If he can't get them, it will be a major loss to the campaign IMO, you may hate him, but he still counts for a considerable share of the vote. If he's out, it will be interesting to see who takes the far-right votes of Le Pen... Villiers?

It's been a long time since they were, as long as I can remember. If Chirac does run, which he'll say on the 12th, he'll most probably run as an independent.

On Bayrou- that guy's a joke, he's rising in the polls because Royal is bombing it.

How can CPNT be considered right or left? The only thing I know other than their recreational/hunting policy is refusal of the admission of Turkey...

The true campaign has only started. Nihous will probably have more airtime and campaign more know he's sure to be in. He'll probably raise his percentage.

Haha. Bayrou losing!

Decide for Sarkozy. Royal has no experience, she's disgusting me by flip-flopping. Bayrou is just an opportunist with a centrist platform that makes no sense. Bayrou and Royal is a vote for status quo, vote for Sarkozy, vote for change and action.

Yeah, go Sarkozy!

Are you sure 53% see Sarko elected? I saw one with 59% and another with 67%...

I think the same on Bayrou, I believe pollsters may overestimate him so nobody can be scared of Le Pen pulling off a 21 April 2002 trick.

One week before the election and I predict around 28-30% for Sarkozy, with around 24-25% Royal, Le Pen and Bayrou tied for third. Besancenot is the leading candidate for the 8 other "small candidates"/

Bayrou a great President? Oh please. If that fruitcake somehow wins I'll go to the French embassy to resign my French nationality because I'll be ashamed of it. If Royal wins, France will become a giant daycare because she talks to people as if they were retarded monkeys. Oh and Bayrou is the same as a sleeping pill.

She speaks as slow as a turtle and (she's good in acting I can say) articulates every sound. It's in her way of speech that I find she speaks to people as if they were kids.

No, I wouldn't give Royal as low as 19%, unless all 8 other minor candidates have excellent scores.
