I hope this isn't your rationale for supporting this disgraceful pipeline. People are hypocrites. Get over it.

What an melodramatic sheriff! Look forward to them finding the person who died. How about do your job and don't complain.

There is no logical reason whatsoever to oppose the pipeline. None. Even if the pipeline isn't built the oil is still going to get distributed - just by trucks and trains instead of pipes. (Which is dangerous and polluting.)

Here's a map of all interstate and pipelines currently in operation.

Gutting environmental regulations is just corporatism in disguise.

You'll be laughing at the water protectors until you start drinking oil yourself.

Pipes are both safer and cleaner than other transportation methods for oil.

I think these people are doing just fine.

Let's see how the good old white folks in Bismark would react if  big oil took over gravecites and dug them up so they could make a bit more money.

Are these gravesites also covered in 250 lbs of frozen trash left by the evil Whites?

If I put myself in their place, I think I would probably leave trash as well, knowing "they" would clean it up. I mean, "they" have no respect for me and what I consider my rights, so why should I show them any respect? The Indian tribes have a history of being violated.

As for polluting the river, I don't really know what to say about that. Such a small bunch of waste is going to cause major environmental damage like an oil spill?

Hmmmmm.

The protesters against environmental damage made more environmental damage than the pipeline.

It's kind of like protesting against chopping down trees, and then building your house out of those same trees.

Finding a lot of people like to protest stuff because it is cool. This one had both indigenous communities and the environment involved. And oil company hate. All pretty cool protest points.

It's never about the environment.

It's about wealth redistribution and tribal grievances. It always is.

Even with the increased risk of leakage as pipelines age, they are still far safer than having them transported via tanker trucks or carried via freight trains.  The best thing environmentalists can do (when their efforts to prevent pipeline construction fails) is advocate strict, uniform regulations and safety protocols for pipelines to minimize the potential for catastrophic accidents like we already have for airplanes.

The protesters were the ones that began camp cleanups two weeks ago. Funny how the ND media outlets never reported that.

Meanwhile Morton County has been filmed by a protester dumping off-site trash onto the protest camp for the obvious purpose of creating a photo-op. Bet that won't be televised.

IIRC, weren't the protesters ushered out in something of a hurry? I honestly don't remember, but I seem to remember something about an evacuation because of winter conditions. That would seem to preclude a methodical cleanup.

Cleaner is a bigly oversimplification.  While it may be true that trains and vehicles spill more often, the amount of spill is limited to whatever the mode of transport was carrying. With pipelines, the spills can go undetected for days or weeks and the amount of the spill can be very large.

For the areas around where a large spill occurs, that spill is hardly safe either.

It's on disputed territory and the pipeline is a potential threat to the reservation's water supply.  Nice half truth there.

If you believe the corrupt government of ND and their local news your dumber than I thought. The paid militarized police are the only people local newscasters listen too this is just a smear campaign to get more people to defend the pipeline.
