Since I have been critical of Trump, let me give him some praise for this action, assuming he actually thought this one through before he acted.  If he wants to get some movement on trade with China, getting past the One China policy was a prerequisite.  And playing around with a major nuclear power is not smart strategy anyway. 

Of course this assumes that Trump has a plan and will get future concessions and cooperation out of China - we will see.
