It's been a while, but the Atlasia Chronicle's first opinion poll of 2017 focuses on which system of government Atlasia should use, the details of a potential parliamentary system, the Presidential election and preferred party to control the House.

I will note once again that the current system is technically semi-Parliamentary because Representatives can serve in the cabinet and two currently do. So it is inaccurate to frame the polling question in this fashion.

Yeah - I will correct that in future polls that I do on this subject.

NeverAgain is on course to become the next President of Atlasia, according to our Atlasia Chronicle poll of 53 Atlasians.

The survey, carried out by our polling team, suggests that the Labor candidate could win the Presidency on the first round of polling. NeverAgain is on 53%, with DFW Libertylover on 41%, once undecided voters are excluded. Winfield is on 6%.

The poll suggests that NeverAgain's commanding position is down to overwhelming support in the North and Fremont, where 58% and 60% of voters back him. DFW Libertylover has a 7% lead in the South, where he's Governor.

Our data shows that each of the main two candidates are winning all of their respective party membership, once undecided voters are excluded. United Alternative members are backing the Federalist at a near 3-1 margin, while Independent voters are strongly behind Winfield, with the former-Northeastern Governor winning over half of non-inscrits. Members of smaller parties, back NeverAgain at a 60-40 margin over DFW Libertylover.

In a hypothetical final round, NeverAgain has a 56-44 lead over his Federalist rival, with Winfield's voters splitting practically evenly between each candidate.

The one crumb of comfort for the Federalist Party is the emergence of Maxwell in to the race, which may lead to some left-leaning voters backing him without putting a second preference. We will be polling again before Friday to see how Maxwell's presence changes the race and to see if there's been any movement in the numbers.

Additionally, the poll doesn't take into account non-voters. NeverAgain's large lead can be, partially, put down to the size of the Labor membership compared to other parties, so a poor turnout from Laborites could even out the race.

We will be realising data at a party, regional and national level in due course.

An encouraging result for parliamentarism, certainly (if only to show there is a concrete, large base of voters already warming up to the idea).
