It's possible...if he becomes dictator, and in turn, the only person who can legally be on the Presidential ballot.

Texas, Kansas, and Alabama are more likely to vote blue in 2020 than Cali red

Nope, Wyoming going to Democrats would be more likely in a Sandersslide [or insert any Populist Progressive].

Sanders will be too old and all the other progressive populists are just viewed as annoying loud mouth left wing extremists by everyone in the country except the very very very very very very very very very very tiny and I mean very tiny part of the country that identifies as socialists or democratic socialists

No, although in all honesty a non-Trumpy, normal right-wing party would be able to keep California competitive, imo. Bush came within single-digits there in 2004, for instance, and even Carly Fiorina stayed basically competitive in the 2010 Senate race there.

I don't think so.  I do think he could get to 45% if he had a great Election Day.

If Trump has a really good first term, the Democrats nominate an idiot who also happens to not be from California, and there is a third party Democrat, it is possible.  Unlikely, but possible.

I could see the GOP be stronger at the local level if secessionists get into positions of power in the California Democratic Party.

It's entirely possible... if the coastal regions slide into the ocean after an apocalyptic earthquake.

Yes. I imagine there will be a large contingent of those seeking to make California a republic by 2020. If Trump tries hard enough, maybe they'll reach a majority.

No way. California is long gone. Too liberal in many respects and not to mention they revile Trump. Also too many big cities.

The Republican Party of 2004 is very different from the Republican Party of 2016.

He won't win the 279 blue wall (MI, WI and PA)  and even Iowa and Ohio will fall in 2020 as well.
