Going by presidential elections:

Prior to this last one, the list would also include MI, PA, and WI (all D).

I'm not sure about GA and MT, since I was born two days before Clinton's first inauguration, so I don't know if that counts for 1992.

Senate

Governors

I was born only a day before Tom Carper was sworn in as Delaware's governor.

Lighter colors indicate states where the opposite party held an office when I was born but lost it in the next election, or where the opposite party had an officeholder who filled a vacancy and was never elected.

The title refers to the elections that you've lived through, so I guess not.

Born in August 1988

Despite Obama winning one of Nebraska's CDs in 2008, it always voted for a Republican at large since 1968.

Honestly (except for Maine and possibly Minnesota) pretty much what I would expect the last holdouts to be.

Why? TN, WV and KY would definitely vote R before TX. And VA and NM would vote D before MN.

I'll give you Tennessee, actually.  And I'm sure Minnesota would fall before NM, not so sure about VA; it'd be close.  But I think in the situation where Republicans are getting so demolished that they are losing this badly, there are probably extraordinary circumstances that would lead to mass crossover voting, and I think WV and KY - even considering how Republican they are right now - would probably have more people who COULD be convinced to vote Democratic than Texas.  If TX goes Democratic, it's because it's a fundamentally different state than it is today, IMO.

Just realized that for my mom's lifetime (b. 1961) the map would look this:

D.C. ruined the map.
