There seems to be a growing number of Democratic politicians who are questioning the mental health of Donald Trump.  Al Franken alleges that a few of his GOP colleagues share this concern.  Bernie Sanders has described Trump as "delusional" and noted that he is a pathological liar.

This is not to say that Donald Trump is a genuinely good and honest person if not for his delusions, but it does appear that a tendency towards lying is exacerbated by what appears to be a heinous lifestyle (lacking sleep, exercise, a nutritious diet, and refusing to keep his mind active) and a team of sycophants who are unwilling to correct him.

What do you think?

Regarding Trump’s immaturity, I think this NY Mag story is rather telling:

http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2017/01/trump-aides-cant-stop-blabbing-about-how-hes-a-madman.html

And I’d also recommend watching Bob Wright riff on the “crazy vs. crazy like a fox” question in this ~2.5 minute video clip:

Remember this about him - he has always acted like this because nobody has ever challenged him and his behavior in the past was without much in the way of consequences because what he did was frankly immaterial and unimportant.

Now that he's president without any training or real understanding of the issues expect the consequences to rain down.

And yes, everything will come out. He doesn't yet realize that the history folks will find every nook and cranny about him and it will be a highly unfavorable judgment. (His supporters will come to
understand that in time and that in itself will be interesting to watch)

I can promise in ten years the Trump brigade will not exist. They will have long since abandoned him except the fringes.

No,

He has always been like this. I don't think he is mentally unwell.

Unless narcissism is a mental disorder that needs treating. My last two bosses are not being taken to any mental home anytime soon.

Once you work in a large organisation for a long time, you will understand Donald Trump a lot better.

Sorry to hear that your last two bosses apparently decided to grope you and not send you paychecks (?).  It's tough out there, but you shouldn't work in those sorts of conditions.

I am not sure if they can really be called mental health issues. He is just a plain narcissistic dinosaur from a bygone era, who is social-media savvy.

Trump had a silver spoon in his mouth all his life, full control of a private company, with loyal sycophants, and an environment (real estate industry and reality TV), where his political incorrectness was cheered on and admired.

At 70 years of age, it's too late for him to change and he probably genuinely believes in some of the things he tweets, even if they are entirely bogus. I wouldn't say this is mental illness, just a conviction that he unfortunately has and won't change.

There seems to be a growing number of Democratic politicians who are questioning the mental health of Donald Trump.  Al Franken alleges that a few of his GOP colleagues share this concern.  Bernie Sanders has described Trump as "delusional" and noted that he is a pathological liar.

When Franken was asked by Jake Tapper about this, about what he meant re: Trump's mental health, the only answer he gave was that Trump lies a lot.  Similarly, your description of Sanders's comments above is fixated on Trump speaking untruths, and musing about whether he believes the untruths or not.

But I think that's only one piece of what people are talking about re: Trump's mental health.  The bigger issue is the one described here:

http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2017/01/trump-is-twilight-zone-episode-about-terrifying-6-year-old.html

about Trump's narcissism and childlike attention span, immaturity, and mood swings.  AFAIK, there are no Democratic politicians who are going there in their attacks on Trump's character, and I wonder if that's ever going to change over the course of Trump's presidency.  Is attacking a political opponent along these lines inevitably going to be painted as over the top by the media, even if it's true?

Why do you insist on bringing up Hillary at every possible opportunity? Even if this was true(it isn't, it's more false moral equivalency BS) why does it matter? Trump is the President of the United States, Hillary has been completely irrelevant since November 8

I really wish she was irrelevant, but most of the party backed her, and her choice for DNC chair is a top contender, and the party is still stuck in the Clinton DLC mold.

The GOP has been saying "but Hillary!" for decades at this point. It's a reflex. And since so-called president Pussygrabber is indefensible, of course they're going to fall back on it.

This implication that because the GOP criticized Hillary, there's no valid criticism from the left is ridiculous.

Yes, it's called narcissistic personality disorder.

That doesn't explain Trump's criminal, venal or petty behavior. Trump is clearly a psychopath in addition to being delusional and a pathological liar.

From now on I'm going to post anti-Jill Stein stuff in every anti-Trump thread so you can see how petty and annoying it is.

jfern's obsession with Hillary is almost as disturbing as BRTD's hero-worship of opebo.  It almost -almost- makes me want the Democratic Party to nominate her again just to see jfern have a meltdown.
