In the absence of a majority, the election now proceeds to a runoff against the two top finishers: Admiral George C. Marshall (an independent conservative) and former Vice President Burton K. Wheeler of the United Socialists.

Admiral George Catlett Marshall, Jr. of Pennsylvania [Independent]
Concordite - Progressive Conservatives - National Party of Acadia

The hero of the war in the Caribbean, Marshall is the face of American victory in World War II and was considered a desirable candidate for both the Liberals and the Concordites. Initially reluctant to enter the race, he was at last convinced to accept the nomination of the Independent Conservative caucus, a coalition of the Concordite, Progressive Conservative, and National parties. As such, Marshall is the candidate of the political right and center; he supports maintaining the NHS in its current form, but otherwise opposes nationalization schemes and supports a strong but cauteous foreign policy. He supports a League of Nations and has fervently called for massive foreign aid to the nations of Europe.

Former Vice President Burton Kendall Wheeler of Montana [U.S.P.]
The United Socialist Party has united behind the candidacy of Burton K. Wheeler, a former vice president from Montana who last held elected office during the administration of Felipe Carrillo Puerto. Wheeler is widely regarded as the candidate of the center-left, less radical than MacInnis but still critical of the pro-business policies of the Liberals. Wheeler is calling for a return to the policies of Charles W. Bryan. He has spoken against the Liberal's "reckless" dismantling of wartime price controls and supports passage of legislation to provide employment and educational opportunities to veterans returning home from the war. He supports the eventual nationalization of the coal, oil, and steel industries and a modest expansion of the NHS, as well as a national minimum wage. He is firmly opposed to a League of Nations but supports aid to Europe, and has otherwise called for the Commonwealth to return to its pre-war isolation.

I can not support full isolation from the world in as crucial a point as this. It is fully unacceptable. Marshall, for all of his flaws, is the candidate who at least acknowledges a role for America in the world, to help rebuild from the rubble. Marshall is my reluctant choice.

If there was a non-isolationist left-wing candidate, I'd vote for them, but as it is, Marshall's the man.

George Catlett Marshall [Independent-Pennsylvania]—43.3% General, 60.0% Runoff
Burton Kendall Wheeler [U.S.P.-Montana]—23.4% General, 40.0% Runoff
James MacInnis [I.W.L.-Quebec]—23.3% General
Arthur Bennet [National Liberal-Niagara]—10.0% General

Fresh from his victory over the Entente Powers in World War II, George C. Marshall was considered by many the ideal candidate for the presidency in 1940, and the result of the national election confirmed that opinion in epic scale. Nominated as an independent candidate with the support of several conservative parties in the Continental Congress, Marshall easily led the field at the end of the first round before winning an enormous victory over Burton K. Wheeler in the runoff. His election was declared a triumph for conservatives and for his own internationalist brand of foreign policy, beginning a political realignment of historic proportions and ensuring that North America would not return to the isolationism of the pre-war era. The established parties, meanwhile, were dealt a crippling blow; while the I.W.L. barely failed to qualify for the runoff, the Liberals were completely wiped out, falling more than fifty percentage points from their landslide victory in the 1932 elections.

Listen to this the country, my friend dear:
I say to you, the Liberals are here.
It is true, many voted for Marshall,
Most of us Liberals did, short and tall.
But, just as the sky is surely blue,
So we are Liberals, through and through.

Disappointing result but the right one. Let the scourge of isolationism be fully repelled on the left!

It's coming, I promise. I'm fairly busy with work this weekend, but I'll try and have 1944 up by Monday at the latest.

I tuned into this quite far into the elections- could you perhaps provide a link or a way to find the other elections?

Look for "hail Columbia" in the search menu (not the one that redirects you to google),select "search in topic subjects only" and search by "older topics first"
