Good afternoon Atlasians,

Let me begin by saying I took this decision very lightly. I was messaged by one of the candidates which led me to investigate what the game is about. I've happened upon candidates whose beliefs are merging toward a center - with only the right-ward Winfield running a populist style campaign. NeverAgain and dfwliberty are running campaigns of the center. I believe it's time for a change.

What do I stand for? I stand for a 32 hour workweek, complete nationalization of healthcare and energy, a halt on excessive CEO salaries, a ban on home schooling, and an introduction to a parliamentary style game reform that halts the overzealous executive power of the executive branch. I also promise to only serve one term because, realistically, that's as long as this game holds my interest. I also promise, before the end of my term, to grant amnesty to Vermont so that they can secede the nation and become an independent body that is free from the wretches of craven capitalist swine.

I have no running-mate and am looking for one. Ideally I'd want someone from another silly party like the Hammurabi Freedom Party, but I'm willing to ask even one of the major parties to join me on this crusade for Vermont style communism.

Anyway, Maxwell is a good friend with some of the best intentions of anyone I've known here. I hope, at the very least, he makes a statement for folks to consider as we move forward. I will gladly give him my second preference in the Presidential election, and I urge others to do the same.

I'll use my Ted Cruz quote here and say that as someone that was educated for half of my schooling, being homeschooled, I may be the best argument against it. Haha.

Are you implying that I do not have a real job or compassion for others?

Maybe it starts with the obsession with purity and once libertarianism failed to mesh with reality... well. I never started with that problem.

You can support healthcare for the poor and middle class and still be a conservative
You can support a 45% tax rate on the top income bracket and still be a conservative
You can support regulating the piss out of banks and still be a conservative.
You can support co-ops and still be a conservative.

I never needed to be a socialist to support these things, though I have been called such many a time by people who don't know any better.

I never worried much about whether Ayn Rand, Ludwin Mises or Karl Marx would approve of what I think. I never gave a damn what some textbook said was doctrinaire thought and acceptable to be in x group. I determined that for myself. My only concern is what works to provide people with the most choices and yet stability, and will thus produce a stable society. A stable society being less prone to wild swings and populist urges, thereby produces that most desirable of circumstances for a traditional conservative, preservation of the system from collapsing.

Therefore my views did not change when I got a job, and I would like to think I always had compassion for others.
