Every president between FDR and Bush 41 with the notable exception of Richard Nixon
had a warship named after him (usually an aircraft carrier, JFK got two carriers, Carter got a submarine, Johnson a destroyer).

How will these four people fare?

I think Clinton, Bush, and Obama will each get a ship.

Bush and Obama will probably get aircraft carriers too. Both for being "wartime presidents". Bush also for having served in the military and for being a Republican president. Obama also for being president while Bin Laden was killed or something like that and for being one of the better (the best?) presidents of the 21st century.

I think Clinton may have to settle for something like a destroyer too, eventually. Trump could actually follow Nixon's example. Either that or he'll have to wait 50 years for getting a destroyer, like LBJ did.

I agree with you, the first three will get a ship or boat, Trump's name won't show up on anything.

I don't know about a ship but maybe one of those spy blimps (JLENS). It can be used to celebrate his biggest contribution to American society: mostly gas and/or hot air.

I'd appreciate the irony of Trump, after a life of getting his name on things, not getting his name on the boats.

Every President between FDR and Bush 41 had some prior military service. Except for Bush 43 keeping the skies of Texas safe in the TANG during Vietnam, the later Presidents don't. There are plenty of Presidents who haven't had a ship named after them. Obama's the only one of these four that might get a ship named after him, and I doubt it'll be an aircraft carrier if it happens.

They're maybe worthy of having one rowboat named for the 4 of them.

In Italian, "fregata" means "frigate" and is also the past participle for "fregare" (a slang verb for conning, fooling, deceiving, etc.).

I'd support a Frigate T***p only for the sake of the pun.

Only for Bill hopefully.

Dubya's "National Guard" experience is laughable, and Obama and Trump never did military stuff.

See how Obama contributed to the destruction of the Navy, I would say no.

Who decides the names of ships? The President, admirals, or some sort of commission.

If Trump doesn't finish his term in scandal like Nixon, I imagine him getting a boat like everyone else.
