I actually thought all of the album nominees were solid, but I probably would've put Adele 4th behind Sturgill, Beyonce and Drake. Lean Drake for the top, but I'm not going to get too worked up over it. A lot of above average works. Bey's was the closest to a career defining album.

No and I don't really care. Do we need to have a checklist criteria now about how frequently people of [x,y,z] demographic characteristics receive awards before people throw a fit? Even if one considers the proposition that these accolades are allocated by merit dubious, adding an "affirmative action" program into the mix would leave no doubt as to its true nature as a smarmy "participation medal" giveaway festival.

There are real discrimination problems that need to be dealt with and whining about how the entertainment industry is being racist is so utterly counterproductive considering that the entertainment industry already bends over backwards in full-throated embrace of diversity. Stop giving right wing politicos unnecessary ammunition you dopes.

Everyone keeps neglecting to mention that Beyonce released her last two albums via unconventional methods and cut the traditional studios out of the process. That's basically a death knell for an album's Grammy hopes. She's one of the all-time leading Grammy winners already, but she won't win again until she plays ball with the record executives or the industry dies out and the new release methods become the norm.

It's Taylor Swift over Kendrick Lamar last year (To Pimp A Butterfly wasn't just the best album of the year, but is one of the best albums ever written), Beck (lol) over Beyonce in 2015, Daft Punk over Kendrick in 2014 (Good Kid, MAAD City was the far superior record), Mumford and Sons over Frank Ocean in 2013, etc...

There's a trend here.

The Grammys reward safe and soft over edgy and daring, no matter the genre. It's the reason they're the absolute worst awards show out there.
