Here's a rule(the person you choose for each party must be part of that party or was until they switched to indie this past election cycle) , and the party controlling each of those positions would still be the one in power

For the GOP:

President: John Kasich
Speaker of the House: Paul Ryan
Senate Majority Leader: John McCain
RNC Chair: Mitt Romney

For the Dems:

Senate Minority Leader: Ron Wyden
House Minority Leader:Collin Peterson
DNC Chair : Jim Webb

For the GOP:

President: Rand Paul
Speaker of the House: Thomas Massie
Senate Majority Leader: Mike Lee (I have love-hate attitudes toward this guy)
RNC Chair: Ronna Romney McDaniel

For the Dems:

Senate Minority Leader: Bernie Sanders

DNC Chair : Alan Grayson

The difference between Old School Republican's stated policy and candidate preferences continues to astound me.

For the Dems:
A Progressive-Blue Dog Coalition is established with strong links to the agricultural sector and organized labor.

President: John Bel Edwards
Speaker of the House: Collin Peterson
Senate Majority Leader: Sherrod Brown
DNC Chair: Richard Trumka

For the GOP:
The Paulbot Mafia takes over.

Senate Minority Leader: Rand Paul
House Minority Leader: Justin Amash
GOP Chair : Ron Paul

For the GOP:

President: Charlie Baker
Speaker of the House: Charlie Dent
Senate Majority Leader: Susan Collins
RNC Chair: Evan McMullin

For the Dems:

Senate Minority Leader: Sherrod Brown
House Minority Leader: Keith Ellison
DNC Chair: Richard Trumka

This would give America a proper choice between a pro-business, economically liberal Republican Party and a pro-labor, social democratic Democratic Party.

Don't have any ideas precisely for the GOP leadership, although I'd probably like someone like Scott Walker or Greg Abbott for President. On the other hand I like the Democratic leadership you chose, that's what the Democratic Party should be like, going back to their roots as a populist party rather than the coastal liberal party of Obama, Hillary and Pelosi it currently is.

Republicans
President: John Kasich (OH)
Vice President: John Thune (SD)
Speaker of the House: Paul Ryan (WI)
House Majority Leader:
House Majority Whip:
Senate Majority Leader: John McCain (AZ)
Senate Majority Whip: Susan Collins (ME)
RNC Chair: Larry Hogan (MD)

Democrats
House Minority Leader: Nancy Pelosi (CA)
House Minority Whip: Steny Hoyer (MD)
Senate Minority Leader: Mark Warner (VA)
Senate Minority Whip: Dick Durbin (IL)
DNC Chair: Donna Brazile (LA)

As you can see, I have no specific ideas for House Democrats.

This would give America a proper choice between a pro-business, economically liberal Republican Party and a pro-labor, social democratic Democratic Party.

Sounds terrible, unless we get a third major party that is pro-market (which is not the same as "pro-business" Tongue).

Some of those guys have populist appeals, of course, but libertarianism is very different from populism. The way I see it, the former is centered on reason, the latter is centered on whoever screams the loudest. Okay, that's an exaggeration Tongue but I am very much a constitutionalist and a small-r republican over a small-d (wow I laughed at that, am I 12?) democrat. I feel like constitutionalism and populism are generally opposed, but I suppose have overlaps due to their shared opposition to the elites and the loose definition of the latter term (and the former term if you look at what some "constitutional conservatives" support).

I might make a list myself later if I remember to.

Oh I'm aware of that, I know the GOP candidates listed there are libertarians. I was talking about the Democrats on that list, although Blue Dog Democrat may have been a better term than populist

I just saw my mistake--SG had Ron Paul as the "DNC Chair," so my tired brain ignored the "for the GOP" part and somehow thought--even though he has explained, with me present, his desire to see a libertarian GOP multiple times--that he was suggesting the Republitarians and Blue Dogs both switch parties. I am concerned that I did not catch that absurdity before typing a hefty paragraph of complaining about populism (projecting my dislike of Trump and fear of a Warrenite Democratic resurgence in 2020), but hey, I've made worse mistakes. The GOP should cease to exist (normal/sane).

The difference between Old School Republican's stated policy and candidate preferences continues to astound me.

Im not a socialist so I would totally dislike the democratic left and I am opposed to the  Christian Right or nationalist wing of the party so really the anti establishment currently is too extreme on both sides

GOP:
President: Scott Walker
Vice President: Mike Pence
Speaker of the House: Jim Jordan
Senate Majority Leader: Marco Rubio
RNC Chair: Paul Ryan
RGA Chair: Matt Bevin
Platform Co-Chairs: Ted Cruz, Rick Santorum, and Pat McCrory

Democrats:
Senate Minority Leader: Joe Manchin
House Minority Leader: Collin Peterson
DNC Chair: John Bel Edwards
DGA Chair: John Bel Edwards (doing double duty)

Being pro-life would be a defacto requirement for being a respectable citizen, much less in public life.
