For those who didn't support Trump, are there any modern day American politicians (so don't answer  Hitler or anything like that) who you believe is worse than Donald Trump?

The only politician I can think of that's worse than Donald Trump is Cruz. I can't think of any other politicians that would be worse than Trump.

Ted Cruz comes close. I believe Cruz is the slightly lesser evil, because at least he has control over his emotions.

Worse than Trump politically:
- Ted Cruz
- David Duke, William Johnson, Richard Spencer, etc. to the extent that they're "politicians."

Close call:
- Dick Cheney
- Sarah Palin
- Michelle Bachmann
- Kris Kobach

Worse than Trump human-being-wise:
- John Edwards
- Anthony Weiner
- Denny Hastert

HM to Jesse Helms, who is still pretty much a "modern" politician, even though he's dead.

In my opinion, no Senator, Governor or Congressman is worse than Trump. I would literally rather have any of them over Trump.

I'm sure there are some worse people at the state legislator level, since it's a big country, and a broad spectrum of awfulness exists.  But among reasonably prominent American politicians who I'm aware of, I can't think of anyone who I think would be a worse choice for president.  There are certainly people who are worse along certain dimensions.  E.g., Trump has at least run a large organization before (if not very well) so I'd guess that Ben Carson would be even more incompetent than Trump in terms of management abilities.  But Trump is pretty much uniquely terrible along a combination of dimensions:

1) He is horribly insecure, way more narcissistic than even your average politician, and has the maturity and emotional intelligence of a grade schooler.

2) He has billions of dollars of assets around the world, with no real transparency behind any of it, and so his administration is corrupt on a scale that would be impossible for most politicians.

3) He has a mercantilist view of international economics that, among other things, pushes him towards burning up the US’s relationship with many of our traditional allies because “they’re ripping us off on trade” or whatever.

4) Relatedly, he doesn’t attempt to justify the US government’s actions, either at home or abroad, in moral terms at all.  As Jonathan Chait notes here, Trump has praised authoritarian leaders for their ruthlessness countless times over the years, including praising the Chinese government for their reaction to Tiananmen Square:

Peter Beinart is also worth a read on this topic:

”For Trump, “We Have a Lot of Killers" Isn’t a Criticism”

I mean, who else says “Let’s steal other countries’ oil.” or “Let’s kill terrorists’ family members on purpose.”  It’s pretty horrific.

not worse or better...just some politicans, from both parties, who seem similary "insane" and unstable to me.

but the problem with trump is the full package.....a little bit of alan grayson's shtick, some ted cruz, a little christie, conspiracy-believing like jill stein/maxine waters.....

trump is a combination of really bad traits and seems to be trusting modern david duke types, who are 1) more intelligent and 2) culturalist instead of racist.

summe summarum....i can't answer the question, but trump is from the worst possible stack. i prefer cruz any day.

What makes Paul Ryan especially bad is that he's a sort of anti-Trump in that, while he's no less prone to lies and theatrics, his lies and theatrics are aimed squarely at fooling political journalists, almost all of whom are ignorant and credulous enough to believe him. Who could ever forget that fawning, cringe-worthy interview that Ezra Klein gave him just a few years ago?

That's very true. I remember in 2012 how he seemed to repeatedly get away with the most blatant lies. He's a terrifying person tbh.

Surprised Steve King hasn't been mentioned yet.

In any case though, it's hard to be worse than Trump.

In terms of ideology alone, there are plenty of Republicans in Congress who I think are worse. (Cruz, Johnson, Rubio, Ernst, and Inhofe, to name a few)

As for politicians who are worse than Trump personally, that's tougher. Trump is truly vile.
