http://kdvr.com/2017/02/13/tennessee-bill-would-make-drivers-immune-from-civil-liability-if-they-hit-protesters-blocking-street/

Of course, this wouldn't apply if they have actually shut down the road with a permit.

There would be some legal challenges to this. What if someone died? That would be vehicular manslaughter I believe.

This is a sick society.

Such legislation is more likely to result in lynchings and riots.

Ridiculous! The police just need to do their damn job and this wouldn't be an issue.

For the record, I don't know if I support this, but I definitely support enforcing a strict "if you block traffic without a permit, you go to jail for a long, long time" rule with zero ambiguity.

"Why don't liberals do peace protests?"
"These guys are blocking traffic? RAM THEM INTO THE PAVEMENT AND JAIL THE SURVIVORS"

Do Republicans ever realize they're the bad guys?

Yeah because we need more people in the system for stuff like this.

Disgusting. How can anyone who calls themselves "pro-life" support something like this?

This probably goes too far (I haven't read the deets), it should be looked at on a case by case basis.  If you have a reason to be worried for you or your's safety, I have no problem with motorists forcing their way through these ass clowns.

Blocking traffic hurts a cause almost as much as violence.  I don't know why so many people fail to see that.

Who knew that the vision laid out in the classic Roger Corman movie Death Race 2000 back in the 70s would finally become a reality under the rule of "Mr. President" Donald Trump???

Republicans rarely hit the streets and protest.

Too busy working and keeping the economy afloat.

So the law is unfair as it targets one political group. You want laws that target all people equally.

As for injuries, it should be on a case by case basis.

Have they thought about what happens if they ran over BLM protestors would it be hate crime? What about a potential terrorist attack like Nice or any other mass murder. Does protection differer between premeditated and involuntary? They would have to immediately remove the law after the first case.

Don't sh**t on that great movie by comparing it to Trump.  And a proper remake (with Corman involved) is coming this summer, not like that thing with the name "Death Race" from a few years ago.  I wonder if Stalone will make a cameo? Smiley

Because our prison system isn't already ridiculously over crammed up with people behind bars for stupid reasons...?

Yes, the bill actually says that you have to make your best effort not to hit them.

If this disgusting thing passes then I guess it's time for people to fire up the big rigs when the "pro-life" people are out and protesting.

And the reason why "pro-life" people support this is because they're usually not pro-life, they're pro-birth. Once that happens though they don't care, no money for the poor kids, they can die then as long as they're born.
