All Bush has needed to do for a vote is hand over some documents.  Since he is so scared of making the documents public & to let the senate  see them, he is going to pull this crap??  Real Nice.  Things could get real ugly if he pulls this

Much as I don't really like Bolton, the Framers did put this provision in the Constitution for a reason. Bush is merely checking and balancing the powers of the Senate; it's a perfectly justified and legitimate action on his part.

More actions to increase the rest of the world's rightful hatred of America.  I wonder if this will get any American's killed, on the margin.

Bush appoints Bolton to U.N. post

Done deal!  Should the Senate now give Bolton an up or down vote?

What a bunch of bullsh**t. The framers put it in because it took weeks for Congress travel to the nation's capital in those days.

Uh, no.  Even George Washington used the power a few days after Congress left on recess.  That's why there is a limit in how long the appointee can sit in the position until having to be confirmed.  It's a way for the President to get something they want done, yet not permanently (since it required Congressional approval).

Right man for the job, I just wish there had been an easier way to get him there. I hope he is confirmed, as now more than ever we need a person least likely to appease and least likely to be soft in that position and others.

I'd rather the lady that is/was the interim ambassador continue her work. She seems to be doing a good job.

Probably due to ideology.  Bush thinks the UN needs urgent reform, so he's chosen someone who is willing to express himself without stumbling over all the diplomatic speak.

But I mean this is the best guy he could find for that? I don't think his record is that strong anyway.

Not sure.  Most people who move up within any Administration tend to be more calm and "political,"  and therefore lack the teeth which might be needed.  Personally, I think Bremmer would have been a good choice, especially with the respect he built with the international community while controlling Iraq before the transition of power.

I seriously doubt Bush would want someone at the UN involved in the Plame case.  If Bush suspects Rove to be indicted, surely he would want to limit the scandal to other parts of the administration.

Have you not read Bush's comments on the man?  Obviously Bush went out of way to get the guy he wanted, so obviously Bush believes they are both on the same page.
