A woman who reported domestic abuse is now detained by ICE after learning she's an illegal immigrant.

Is it just me, or is "ICE" like the perfect name for some Saturday morning cartoon supervillain's faceless army?

Hence the reason sanctuary cities are a thing. Would thise who oppose them rather she not report it for fear of getting deported, remain in this country illegally, and stay stuck in her abusive relationship?

An illegal alien who had been deported 7 times and was a multiple convicted felon...

Source CBS News -

According to the affidavit filed by federal agents, the individual has been removed from the United States six times and voluntarily returned to Mexico one other time.

Her alleged criminal history includes convictions for false imprisonment in 2013; assault, probation violation, domestic violence in 2011 and false imprisonment-minor-parental in 2010.

The reason this is a losing issue for liberals is because of one word: "ILLEGAL".

I'm sorry. We have laws, don't we?

All right, then let's give them a path to being legal.

You mean like... https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process.html

I'm not actually opposed to legal, non-citizen status for law abiding illegal immigrants, but multiple deportees with felonies don't get that.

Expecting Trump supporters to show sympathy for a domestic abuse victim is asking waaaaay too much of them.

No one is excusing domestic abuse and no one deserves to be abused, and our country doesn't deserve to be abused by deporting the same person 6 times who has an interesting rap sheet.

This is why liberals keep being seen as the party of criminality.

Legalize drugs, get rid of voter I.D. laws, open the borders and given amnesty.

It really says something when your best hopes of winning elections are if they let felons vote. LOL

Then we're agreed. Get it done, and there will be less controversy over the rest.

Washington and Jefferson were criminals too. Its not like something being a crime automatically makes people who do that thing bad.

That's worse than alternative facts.

Amen.  Did you see her rap sheet, excluding 6 deportations?

You do realize he had nothing to do with this scenario, right?  Your excessive hyperbole is wearing a tad thin.

-No. Kick 'em out. Let's stop this country from turning into Mexico City.

OK, we're progressing, at least it's better than Haiti

So, I have a question for anybody who knows the law *paging Mr. Reactionary*: If this woman had had the same rap sheet, but was a citizen, would the cops have arrested her if she had a warrant out for her arrest, but was making a call on a domestic abuse claim? If so, the law is kind of messed up regardless of how immigration plays into it.

Nothing to do with it? I suppose that's technically true. It's not as though he's ACTUALLY Chief Executive of the United States, that's just a role he plays on TV. And his rants and push for more crackdown on illegal aliens are don't have any impact on stuff like this at all.

-Totally agreed. And "turning into Mexico City" is hardly hateful. Massive low-skilled immigration really is turning this country into something resembling Mexico City; that is, tremendously unequal, slow-growing, high-rent and low wage. Remember, both the garbage dump and rich neighborhood scenes in Elysium were shot in Mexico City.
