Could he turn something gimmicky into a real campaign? Especially if it began as addressing the core Democratic base voters? Criminal justice reform, bringing back jobs, student debt, etc?

Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing the Democrats embracing celebrity a bit more.

If we want the Green Party to become the permanent major-tier left-wing party in the US, sure.

He's an atheist who named his boat after an Ayn Rand novel. Come on.

He's obviously not in contention for the Democrats, but what if he runs as an independent?  I'd be worried he'd play spoiler for Don.

"But Trump" by itself is not a valid argument. The basis of it seems to be that since Trump won the nomination and election 2016 every single nomination and election from hereon out will work THE EXACT SAME WAY.

And?! Americans should seriously stop vilifying Atheists. It's disgusting. The polls where a majority says they wouldn't vote for an atheist are almost as bad as the old polls where a majority wouldn't vote for a woman or a homosexual.
Anyway, absolutely not for Cuban.

That's funny, because for about 4 years, the vast majority of people on this forum believed that the Midwest would continue to be Democrat for the foreseeable future, and the entire rest of the country would slowly shift blue. Let's not act like this sort of behavior is precedented.

Right and again, I'm not advocating for him, to be clear. But I just feel like an underwhelming Democratic field could yield to someone like Cuban who can just project views that would score him points with key demographics and if the media wants to cover him, who knows, maybe he really does have a shot.

He'd have to bring the Berners to heel, but if he can do that he'd be an exceptional pick.

And a comically damanged nominee who would suffer terrible turnout from the voters you need most.

Mark Cuban has a very good relationship with the blacks.

Cuban would be a really weak nominee (I can't see modern Democrats getting behind a rich guy that easily), but I am surprised no one has been floating his name for Texas Senate/Governor in 2018. He fits Texas Dems and Indies far better than the national equivalents.

If Democrats want to truly expand the map, they need to find someone who can win statewide election in Texas. Right now I think Cuban would be the best bet possible.

Cuban has better things to do than be one of 100 senators or be the governor of one of 50 states.

I would absolutely support him. Sure, he is probably more economically conservative than me, but if can beat Trump, I'll take whatever I can get.

Where are you getting this information? I can't find anywhere on the internet that Mark Cuban is an atheist. Cuban is Jewish.

I would vote for almost any other candidate in the primary, a minor party in a situation where he won the democratic nomination, and would not even consider voting for him running as an independent.

Would have to throw out the Bernie voters, but if he ran as a centrist technocrat in the general, he could easily peel off a good 25% of Republican voters who are disgusted with Trump. I'm in favor of anything that makes the Marxist wing of the Democrat party as irrelevant as possible.

Idk about voting for the guy in a primary, but I would hands prefer a much smarter guy like him than what we got now. Anyone who thinks he isn't 10 times smarter than trump is...about as smart as trump.
