This is silly. The seat isn't up in '20.

In the scenario that Gillibrand resigns to become president or vice president... but not going to happen.

There's no reason for her to resign before the election.

Yeah, I just don't understand the scenario.  Even if Gillibrand is elected, she wouldn't resign her Senate seat until after the election, and the seat would then be filled via appointment by the governor, not by election.  What am I missing?

The Dynasty name that has the most potential going forward is Bobby Kennedy's Grandson:

US Representative.. Joseph P. Kennedy III

He's 36, Stanford, Peace Corps, Harvard Law, Good Speaker, Charismatic (and he would have the support of Elizabeth Warren, Hillary, and Obama... pretty much all factions of the party)

There are definitely stories on how Chelsea inherited all her 2 time Loser mommy's vile nastiness and not so much of her 2 time Winner daddy's brains and charm.

The article which was alluded to and not actually linked to doesn't state they would run in 2020, but rather the impact the 2020 election could have if Gillibrand were to set her sights on the White House (and win).

Of course the article is pure speculation of what could happen.  If Gillibrand were to run and win in 2020 a Special Election would be held for her seat in 2022, and of course before we would even get to that point, the Governor would be the one making an appointment to the Senate seat in the interim.

People keep looking for excuses to talk about anyone named Clinton. HILLARY LOST THE ELECTION AND TRUMP WON!

It's time to stop using the Clintons to deflect off of what a disaster Trump is.

Nobody wants dynastic politics.

Hopefully the Democrats have learned this by now!

This x 1000

Kennedy's and Clintons (and Bush, etc) you all have done enough damage. PLEASE GO AWAY.

"nobody" wants dynastic politics with successors who are less talented than the original family member.

Justin Trudeau has fared well (but he probably is arguably a successor with more talent).

Chelsea & Caroline Kennedy are definitely successors with less talent.

The Jury could still be out on George P. Bush & Joe Kennedy III (regarding their level of talent). Although I think Kennedy has more "Breakout" raw potential than George P.

Cuomo assuming he wins in 2018 would appoint the replacement, my guess is Kathy Hochul would be the frontrunner.
