Plenty of people have suggested it, but as far as I'm aware Kasich himself hasn't indicated anything either way.

He's not running, he'd probably lose in the primary anyway

It's pretty clear here in Ohio that Josh Mandel is definitely running for the Senate seat, and Pat Tiberi may be challenging him in the primary. That's it.

Kasich is probably scoping out a 2020 challenge to Trump.

I don't even think Kasich could win a Republican primary in Ohio anymore.

Nah, Kasich's still very popular in Ohio across the political spectrum. He could, he's just term-limited out of being Governor and not interested in becoming a freshman Senator at age 66.

Kasich won't run for Senate in 2018 unless Josh Mandel runs a horrible campaign and he is forced to drop out, or Pat Tiberi decides not to or some other Ohio Republican.

He may run for president in 2020, but his political career looks over. He may be back in the TV business or just be an elder statesman for the Republican Party.

Brown and Portman seem to be good senators and unless Kasich sees an open seat he won't ruin his political capital like Strickland did against a really smart senator like Brown.

Brown will win reelection over Josh Mandel in a Trump midterm and so will Tester, Manchin and McCaskill.

It's unlikely Tiberi goes through with the primary now anyway.

I disagree, he burned bridges with republicans bad this year, while he does well with Indys and dems lately, I don't think he could win a GOP primary in Ohio right now
