That's a much better pick than I was expecting. My favorite professor in college was what I would term a "military intellectual," and there's hardly a finer breed of soldier in our armed forces. Good luck to Gen. McMaster, I hope he and other patriots like Mattis and Kelly can keep the ship of state afloat with so many ideologues and amateurs bouncing around the White House.

The fact Bolton has gotten his paws on the administration in any capacity is extremely depressing.

Good pick. Someone tell him to please run our national security policies so our idiot President doesn't screw up the country.

As a baby boomer (automatic HP), you realize posts like this are not good for my heart, right?  Smiley

This seems like quite a good pick. I'm definitely glad that it wasn't Bolton, but I'd agree that it's disappointing he'll still be lurking about somewhere.

He seems competent and intelligent. Definitely one of the better additions.

For a second I thought this was Henry McMaster. That would have been quite a sudden rise for Kevin L. Bryant.

Solid choice. Big upgrade from Flynn but that doesn't take much.

I wish you wouldn't compare Kelly to Mattis. Mattis is a literal massive FF, whereas Kelly is nearly as bad as Mike Pompeo.

Henry ain't going nowhere, no how. He's got the job he wanted and unfortunately he's likely to stay in it for the next ten years.

Is there something about Kelly I'm unaware of? Seems like a no-BS Marine to me

Mattis is my favorite of the two, of course

Yes, Mattis may be Trump's best cabinet pick by far, and McMaster one of his better adviser picks, for sure.

Trump seems to like the Generals, that's for sure.
