What is the left wing equivalent to Breitbart?

I'd say either The Intercept or Counterpunch.

I don't know if there really is a good equivalent. If you're going by level of influence, you have to look at sites like Vox, HuffPo, and Salon. But these tend to actually have pretty high journalistic standards, even if they are partisan sources. If you go to one that's as sensationalist as Breitbart, it would be more something like Forward Progressives, Occupy Democrats, or US Uncut. But these don't have the same "boogeyman" feeling on the right as Breitbart gives to the left, since they just don't have the same amount of influence.

I can't help but feel this is comparing apples and oranges. I mean, reading AP press releases would get you some knowledge of a situation, but it would hardly make you understand more.

Also by the standards of this chart, a MOTR garbage paper like USAToday would be considered the best source of information in the country.

This is a good answer in terms of identifying a publication that fills a similar role on the opposing side.

I agree. There are some good parallels with Mother Jones's reporting on the 47% video and Breitbart's on the Weiner scandal.
