He's already seeing himself as a Goldwater/William Jennings Bryan style figure.No one KNEW the Democrats would continue to move left after WJB. No one KNEW the GOP would move right after Goldwater. Despite the oversimplifying we like to do when looking at political history, either one could have EASILY been flukes and told NOTHING of what was to come. Same with Sanders. Maybe his wing dies without him and Democrats become DLCish like some posters think they will ... maybe he IS a Goldwater-type figure ... I think the tentative evidence right now points to the latter, if you have to pick one option or the other.
