I'm going to define "modern day" as the year 2000 on.

Not in order:
Michael Bloomberg, Jerry Brown, Bill Clinton (was president in the year 2000, so he counts), Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Evan Bayh, Mark Dayton, Al Gore, Bill Nelson, and Mark Warner.

Rand Paul, Justin Amash, Tulsi Gabbard, Tom McClintock, Donald Trump, Ron Paul, Raul Labrador, Thomas Massie, Dana Rohrabacher, Kerry Bentivolio
