MN-5 turnout would be same with or without Ellison, I wonder how Franken & Dayton feel about him single handily taking credit for their victories?

Republicans are afraid of Kander and Buttigeig.

Yeah Ellison is the chair. The DNC was hoping Perez would outshine tonight to calm tension but it backfired and arguably made it worse.

My summary/reaction:

Well that debate sure was something.

I've decided I like Buttigieg better than Ellison. He seems to "get it," with messaging, with grassroots support, with the right experience and youthful optimistic energy.

Jaime Harrison was super-annoying (most besides the big 3 could be at times). "Elect me. DNC Chair is a job. Like, it seems to really be a job. It's about building. The Chair needs a builder! And a fighter! Thank you for everything mom. Oh, an no one else knows that being poor sucks!" (*literally bounces up and down and moves his hands excitedly*) He needed to calm down and stop taking everything personally.
Brown and Greene were annoying too.

Perez dodged a lot of questions, but showed some charm. Though the question about the Donors' Summit was bad. "Well, everyone here was at the Donor's Summit instead of the Women's Marches, except for Buttigieg and the John Kerry clone, but that's not fair, I go to marches too. Everyone else went to the Donors' Summit!" And Greene adding on "the DNC should stop caring about PR and make policy happen!" Well the point of the DNC is to have good PR and communication, to help get people elected, so they can make policy, jeesh. And no, Greene, the Civil War was worse than Trump.

And thank you Buttigieg for realizing that people should stop talking about Millennials like we're all preteens, the oldest of us are approaching 40.

Ronan was just this cynical "you guys all suck, the Democrats suck" candidate... but somehow not annoying, he was pretty funny. No chance of winning though."Ronan: he's just like your cynical Generation X second-cousin... elect him, and listen to him arrogantly complain about the DNC he leads with an occasional valid point. Ronan."

This has always been inside baseball stuff, its ridiculous there was a televised debate for this. I don't a give a damn about their policy views if they can fill party coffers thats all that matters. Ellison seems to think this is a position to set policy which it is not.

I think Ellison or Buttigieg will be good to challenge Ronna Romney McDaniel's RNC and hopefully they can bring funds to the party to help the DCCC and the DSCC and local Democratic parties.

Ellison and Buttigieg are the solid winners, with Greene not too far behind.

Winners: Perez, Ellison, Buttgieg, Harrison(tries way too hard.)
Losers: Brown, (Green) SJW Donna Brazile, Sam guy who protested at the convention, Charlie Skinner aka Sam Waterston.

I still think Buttigieg would be a great DNC chair, It's sad that these forums/debates don't allow him for articulate to his ideas and plans for the DNC. He has the the forward thinking to reshape the DNC. It also just sucks that he happens to be too talented for this job position.

Overall. CNN did a bad job of moderating ,invited some irrelevant candidates, and focused too much on policy. They should have stay one clear topic so people get a chance to absorb the information, the Sanders/Cruz debate was much smoother and concise.

Nate Cohen says Ellison trying to take credit for voter turnout, etc in Minnesota ... Does not hold up to scrutiny.

In off year elections (when Dems need to win)... Ellison's district has about the lowest turnout of all Minn districts.

If Ellison really had developed an organic grassroots movement in his district.. you would expect his off year numbers to be much higher. (certainly not last)

Every poll I've seen online- regarding Who won DNC Chair debate or Who should be DNC Chair....

Has either Buttigieg or Ellison winning (Perez isn't even close in may of them)...

...not that these polls will influence voting members (although may mirror some of their personal opinions?)

Small note to myself: if Perez doesn't become DNC chair, he should absolutely run for Maryland governor in 2018.

Naw, he should find some other office he's not eligible for, so he can be thrown off the ballot again.

Do Howard Dean & Ed Rendell have much sway with current state DNC party chairmen?

Looks as if Keith Ellison has the edge, at least in the first round of balloting:

This was posted earlier, and conflicts with the AP count that suggests Perez will almost definitely lead on 1st ballot.

I would be happy to see Perez disappear from the national stage. He needs to go.
