There's a very logical reason for that, and many Ds take pride in it.  You can't say "when they go low, we go high" and then ... go low, LOL.

And many Rs take pride in not holding their politicians to any sort of standard, and only wanting to trigger liberals. At least the Democrats try to have moral standards and would prefer to “fight fair”, although Trump has made that all but impossible.

It is refreshing to finally see a minor scandal work out traditionally. I can’t remember the last time that the news cycle played out normally like this. Trump news moves way too fast, and nothing ever seems to matter.
